How to Spot Fake Juicy Couture Handbags
Mar 18th, 2009 | By admin | Category: Featured Designer Handbags, UncategorizedJuicy Couture products are hot, not to mention, expensive. Like all other expensive bags, there are plenty of fake bags on the market. To be certain you are buying an authentic bag, check out these tips on how to spot fake Juicy Couture handbags.
Inspect the leather. A real Juicy Couture bag is made of 100% cowhide leather and is soft to the touch. A fake will be made of a lower-quality leather, or even a leather-like vinyl. A fake will feel stiff and sometimes rough. It may also be shiny due to the poor quality of the material. Feel the leather if you can get close enough to the handbag. It should feel soft and smooth all over.
Feel the inside lining of the handbag. Juicy Couture handbags are always lined with 100% cotton fabric. The cotton should be soft, smooth and feel like a high-quality fabric. A thick or scratchy fabric would not be found on a real Juicy Couture handbag. The interior of the bag can differ from style to style but usually matches the overall appearance.
Examine the hardware. Any metal hardware on an authentic Juicy Couture bag are heavy copper or gold colored metal and have a Juicy trademark engraved on them such as the word “Juicy,” a heart, a Scottish Terrier dog or the letter “J.” Juicy Couture often has “J” zipper pulls and normally emblems like crowns or hearts embossed into the buttons or studs. If a bag has plain hardware, it’s a fake.
Check the stitches. Juicy Couture bags, like most high-end bags, are made with fine stitches that are arranged in straight lines and with no loose threads. A fake Juicy Couture handbag will have stitching that looks messy. There may be loose ends and uneven lines on a fake bag.
Look closely at the leather “J” heart. Most Juicy bags have a leather heart with the letter “J” embossed into it. This means the “J” is raised and sticks up from the heart. All bags without the embossed letter “J” are not authentic Juicy bags. If the bag is designed with a flat “J,” check out the stitching detail. The stitches should be close together.
Check the labels. Juicy Couture has pink inside labels which may say “Made in the USA” or “Made in China” as the were acquired by Liz Claiborne and were recently made more often in China. The newer styles label say “Love G&P” while older styles may say “Love P&G” but after a lawsuit with Proctor & Gamble they had to be changed.
Consider the price of the bag. A fake bag will be set at a price that reflects its cheaper materials. The reason people buy fake Juicy Couture handbags is that they cost much less than the real thing. If the bag is new and costs a fraction of the retail price, it’s probably a fake.
Ask questions. If you’re buying a Juicy bag from an online auction site, be sure to ask the seller questions like where the bag came from. Also read any available feedback on the seller. Beware of overseas sellers which may be selling fakes, or someone that has a lot of the same style. Legitimate sellers may have several Juicy bags, but not all in the same style.
A Juicy Couture handbag is well-made and stylish, but Fake Juicy Couture bags are sometimes sold by unscrupulous salespeople who try to pass them off as the real thing. Examining the bag according to the criteria above makes it possible to tell whether the item is real or fake.
